  • LMS RFI (Request for Information) released. The RFI is a request for general information from vendorsĀ  about current state of the LMS space.
  • LMS Review Committee charged with planning a process to choose a new LMS to be in place and used in production during fall 2011.
  • LMS committee met to create a first rough draft of an RFP (Request for Proposals).

SUMMER 2010

  • LMS Review Committee continued work on initial first draft of RFP.

SEPTEMBER 2010

  • Sep 17-24: UMW faculty, staff, and students asked for input on their requirements for the next LMS.
  • RFP draft refined incorporating input from UMW community.

OCTOBER 2010

  • RFP released for a thirty day period.

NOVEMBER 2010

  • LMS Review Committee rates vendor submissions based on rubric published in RFP.
  • LMS Review Committee identifies top four LMS products to invite to campus for live demos for faculty, staff, and students.

JANUARY 2011

  • Jan 17-28: Live demos will be scheduled during this two-week window.

FEBRUARY 2011

  • Jan 31 – Feb 11: Two week window for faculty, staff, and students to provide feedback to the committee based on demos.
  • Feb 21: LMS Review Committee makes final recommendation to administration.

MARCH 2011

  • New LMS installed and tested.
  • Training materials developed by User Services, DTLT, Distance Learning

LATE SPRING 2011

  • Faculty training in new LMS
  • Migration of Blackboard 8 courses into new LMS.

SUMMER 2011

  • Pilot testing of subset of classes in new LMS.
  • Additional faculty training and migration of courses.

AUGUST 2011 (Fall Semester)

  • New LMS fully functional and classes offered using new LMS.
